Posting Costs from Time Management to Project Management

I'm trying to understand when labor costs entered through Time Management are actually "posted" to a project. Here's a scenario I have in mind:

1. Resource Updates Time Sheet
a. time charged to project
b. time sheet submitted for approval

2. Time Sheet Approved
a. Resource Manager approves non-project time
b. Project Manager approves project time

3. Calculate Rate for Period and Create Cost Rule
a. Accounting Freezes Time Sheet
b. Adjusted Rate for Period is calculated.
c. costs are re-calculated based on changed Cost Rules.
d. Close Time Sheet.

Questions:

1. When is the cost "posted" to the project? At step 2b? or Step 3d?
2. What happens if the COST RULE is deleted after step 3d? Is the project cost impacted?
3. What if a COST RULE is created for this time period 6 months after Step 3d? Is the project cost impacted?

Thanks,
RPC

Re: Posting Costs from Time Management to Project Management

Hi Rich,

1. When is the cost "posted" to the project? At step 2b? or Step 3d?

Anytime after step 1a, when the cost rollup runs next. The interval for this is set in

com.kintana.core.server.COST_ROLLUP_INTERVAL_MINUTES

and is defaulted to once per hour.

2. What happens if the COST RULE is deleted after step 3d? Is the project cost impacted?

No. It will only recalculate for time sheets that are NOT cancelled, closed or frozen.

3. What if a COST RULE is created for this time period 6 months after Step 3d? Is the project cost impacted?

No. See above. Also, once the project is completed or cancelled it's costs are not recalculated.
