Password reset on PPM login page.

Hi,

Is it somehow possible to get Password reset or Password reminder link on PPM login page. So that end users could reset their passwords by theirself.

Re: Password reset on PPM login page.

Hello Kristjan,
that's truely a missing feature. We have solved this by creating a report that resets the password and unlocks the user and made taht report available to our general IT support team. So they do not need to have a user admin license.
The user calls the central phone number, someone from the support team unlocks him.
I would be interested in how others deal with this common situation.

No, we are running 8.00.01 in PROD.

Re: Password reset on PPM login page.

We have a request available to the Operations group that generates a random password value, encrypts it, stores it in the user's entry, sets the password expiration date, then emails the new password value to the user. It works fine except for those users that have a rule to delete the PPM notifications.

Re: Password reset on PPM login page.

My ide would be to have it directly on login page like it is on most web pages. Then user do not have to bother us at all with that problem. Basically it is just about one little script what does coupe of DB query's and sends an e-mail, so it sould not be hard to develope it ? Or there is something else that i'm missing ?

Re: Password reset on PPM login page.

You can add a button to the Logon page that would allow a user to reset their password but it is a lot of work. We have a user self registration capability that is done this way and it works well. An outline of the steps you need:

1. Add another html form to the Logon page that includes appropriate functions, text and the password reset button.

2. Clicking the button logs the user in with a special id/password with limited access and opens a Create Request page for a password reset request. The only required field set by the user would be their user id.

3. Clicking the Submit button submits the request and logs the user out.

Note that if a password reset request is available to all users, a user could simply contact a co-worker and have them run the request for them. This would save having to do all of the work described above and redoing every time you upgrade.

Any help on the commands please?

Re: Password reset on PPM login page.

Hi Sascha,

That's a nice way to deal with the unlock of users. Could you share the detail of your report if is possible?

Regards,

Alfredo
