PPM integration with F5 hw load balancer : session jumps

Hi dear PPM experts community,

We met an unexpecting issue with PPM.

Our configuration :

PPM 9.14 patch 2

Windows 2008 R2

IIS 7.5 + jakarta redirector ISAPI dll

F5 load balancer (sticky sessions)

End User <-- (HTTPS) --> F5 <-- (HTTPS) --> IIS <-- (AJP13) --> PPM

If we connect to F5 load balancer, the sessions switch from User A to User B (If User A and B have an opened session in the same time).

If we connect to IIS (with properly configured BASE_URL), no issues

and the same no issue if we connect to PPM directly.

Our F5 engineer said he was not able to see JSESSIONID on his F5

IIS was installed with HP procedure. Since we are not IIS experts, maybe we forgot something (cache / cookie / session).

Best Regards

Alex

i didnt understand the problem totally, i faced some kind of load balancer issues on https configuration; i suggest to use cookie based sessions for this you need to install certificate on load balancer also.

I don't understand why you are using an F5 switch and IIS. You should only need either a hardware load balancer (F5) or a software load balancer (IIS). We use an F5 switch to encode/decode https traffic to/from the users and forward http to PPM.
