PPM Oracle Dead Locks

We are having regular deadlocks on our Oracle side.

the tables involved in the deadlock are QRTZ_LOCKS and QRTZ_SCHEDULER_STATE. These are small tables:

select * from ppm.qrtz_locks;

LOCK_NAME
-------------------
CALENDAR_ACCESS
JOB_ACCESS
MISFIRE_ACCESS
STATE_ACCESS
TRIGGER_ACCESS

select * from ppm.qrtz_scheduler_state;

INSTANCE_NAME LAST_CHECKIN_TIME CHECKIN_INTERVAL RECOVERER
What can cause a dead lock.???

Re: PPM Oracle Dead Locks

Raka,

We are facing similar issue into our PPM 9.1SP2 environment. Do you have any resolution to the posted problem.

I would appreciate if you can provide some details about the issue and if you received any resolution as of now.

Regards,

Niraj

Re: PPM Oracle Dead Locks

Hi,

Do both of you by any chance use Oracle RAC? Did you noticed these deadlocks issues on non-RAC environments?

Thanks,

Etienne.

Re: PPM Oracle Dead Locks

Hi,

We are having the same issue in PPM 8.0 SP4.  But, just noticed that on page 138 of the 8.04 Release Notes that this is known problem for 8.03.  The workaround is to increase the QUARTZ_WORKER_THREADS server.conf parameter value to 30.

Has anyone tried this and if so, did it help?

Thanks!

cindy

Re: PPM Oracle Dead Locks

Cindy,

We already tried this and it has not helped. I also tried to schedule services, so that to avoid concurrency to minimum number. Since this was the known issue and has been recommended by HP, I have this parameter set to 30 now.

Niraj
