Out of the box validation

Hi Team,

I am newbie in PPM, I was just looking at the out of the box validations. Most of these was having

(   UPPER (u.first_name) LIKE UPPER ('?' || '%')
          OR UPPER (u.last_name) LIKE UPPER ('?' || '%')
          OR UPPER (u.full_name) LIKE UPPER ('?' || '%')
          OR UPPER (u.username) LIKE UPPER ('?' || '%')
         )

code as common. Could you please update as to why , this code is written.

Re: Out of the box validation

The code here is ment for SEARCH (filters) within the Validation window, i.e. in the example shared above by you....

UPPER (u.first_name) LIKE UPPER ('?' || '%')

Here in field with token  "FIRST_NAME" , if any user enter any value say xyz then it will search like 'xyz%' in oracle or it will search FIRST_NAME starting with xyz

equivalent query...

where UPPER (u.first_name) LIKE UPPER ('xyz%')

Same is the case with other tokens.

Cheers..
