New field in Project Risk generated by Project

Hi All

I want to create a new field for Project Risks - when the risk is generated I want it to pull the field 'Business Unit' from the project.

Is this possible?

Re: New field in Project Risk generated by Project

You mean to say that you want to create a new custom field called 'Business Unit' In the Risk RT. When a new Risk Request is created from Project, If should copy over the 'Business Unit' of the Project?

Re: New field in Project Risk generated by Project

If you create the Risk Request as a part of Workflow then I know How to do it, If You create the Risk Request by clicking 'Log Risk', then I am not sure.

I hope you will have to enter the Project Name in Risk Request type, As soon as you enter the Project Name, You can Populate the 'Business Unit' by means of a Rule Query.

Re: New field in Project Risk generated by Project

I am happy to have it built in as part of the workflow - as we don't really raise project risks under the 'demand' section - so 99% are done via the project.

What rule would give me this?

Thanks!!

Solution

Re: New field in Project Risk generated by Project

If it is exactly through WF, then you have to create Execution Workflow Step.

And you have to use the command called 'ksc_copy_request'

Open Workbench > Configuration > Special Commands and see the parameter which you need to pass through the Command.

If you want the BU to appear when you click Log Request, Write a Rule which is based on field Change and when you enter the Project Name then the Custom Business Unit is Updated.

Query

Select
prj_business_unit_code
prj_business_unit_meaning
From kcrt_fg_pfm_project
Where Project_Name='[YOUR_PROJECT_NAME_TOKEN]'

Let me know if it helps.

Re: New field in Project Risk generated by Project

Mahendran,

the "Log Risk" button in Project Overview Page will create a request of the type which is defined in Project Settings under Request Types.

Re: New field in Project Risk generated by Project

Hi,
It has been our experience that you can have the value in Field A in Request Type 1 copy over to the same Field A in Request Type 2 if Field A is using the same Token and Validation in both requests.
Hope this helps!

Re: New field in Project Risk generated by Project

Hi All

Thanks Cindy - I did try creating the a new field which the same token as other Request, but it came up with an error message.

Manhendra, as Project Risks have to have a project assigned to them, I can create the rule, I stuck in the following rule, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Select
prj_business_unit_code
prj_business_unit_meaning
From kcrt_fg_pfm_project
Where Project_Name='[REQ.P.KNTA_MASTER_PROJ_REF]'

Do I need to change the following lines:

prj_business_unit_code
prj_business_unit_meaning ?

Thanks!

Re: New field in Project Risk generated by Project

Ryan,

Could you use below code for your rule?

Select
prj_business_unit_code
prj_business_unit_meaning
From kcrt_fg_pfm_project
Where Project_Name='[REQ.VP.KNTA_MASTER_PROJ_REF]'

Thanks!

Re: New field in Project Risk generated by Project

Ryan, If you Use

REQ - The field in Header
REQD - The field in Detail

.P. - Means the Code(ID)
.VP. - Means the Meaning(Name)

If the Parameter is Character then you need to use single Quotes.

Hope this explains everything.
