Warning: The server (PID:6718) still appears to be running after 20 seconds.

but in front end we see

Re: Need urgent help on server down

Sometimes PPM does not shut down properly and you need to kill the process. On a UNIX system, this is done with a kill -9 command. You can use the ps command to get the process id if necessary, though the error message you reported appears to contain the pid.

Re: Need urgent help on server down

I concur with Jim. If you are on Windows you can use task manager to kill the processes. The error below is what let's you know the initial proces is still running...

jboss.web:service=WebServer JBossWeb:main:org.jboss.jetty.JettyService:2011/07/13-10:38:34.865 BST: exception
java.net.BindException: Address already in use

Re: Need urgent help on server down

Another thing to note, if you are using a Windows service, is that the service will start & stop much faster than the underlying PPM Java process will. When you get an "Address already in use" it can often mean you stopped the service and are trying to restart it before the Java process actually shut down.

Re: Need urgent help on server down

Erik is correct. I saw a note somewhere that indicated PPM can easily take 5 to 7 minutes to stop. I think it waits until all executing services are idle but that may just be wishful thinking.

Make sure that the CLASSPATH entry for Cryptix is an absolute path.
server:CommandRunner for com.kintana.core.server.execution.CLConnectCommand Batch ID: 544227:SystemErr:2011/07/14-10:49:42.461 BST: Warning: failed to load the IJCE properties file.
Make sure that the CLASSPATH entry for IJCE is an absolute path.

I finally rebooted the Unix machine and now all is good :)
