Need to invoke static parameters from a config file or an external source to HP PPM

As part of build and deployment automation using HP PPM, we wanted to invoke static parameters from a config file or an external source to PPM and pass specific information through workflow or sub-workflow or other objects defined in the parent workflow. These information may be required to retain until the completion of parent workflow. Static parameters can be target host machine or instance, application name, work stream like HR, P2P,BASEL 3 and environments like UAT, SIT, DEV etc.

Generic workflow behavior will get changed based on the parameter passed to it. For example a generic workflow should be used to deploy java code to FT environment of BASEL 3 project as well as UAT environment of BASEL 2 project.

We wanted to understand whether this can be implemented in PPM, if yes then how it’s possible.

This sounds like something you could do by creating validations that either reference the values from another source via database link, or by reading directly from the config file. Auto Complete List validations can read delimited output from commands...many of the migrator object use these type of validations.

You can use Packge Line user data, these will store the values for specific pakage line and it will be avilable through the workflow life cycle.

What ever is you parametes, users can select or mention in the package line users data while creation.
