Multicast Error messages

Good morning,

We are getting multicast error messages on a clustered ppm setup we have:

ERROR

server:ClusterMonitor.HeartbeatThread:com.kintana.core.server.cluster.MulticastCommsFailureMonitor:2013/04/04-12:22:25.299 EDT: No multicast traffic has been received on the APP_SERVER_MULTICAST_PORT port since this node was started, even though other nodes in the cluster appear to be active. Please check your multicast routing, server.conf settings, and/or firewall settings.

While working with HP Support we were checking the Java version and Port connections on the two servers that make up the cluster. When checking java on one of the servers we got this error:

mitg@QPPM-NA2 /cygdrive/d/itg/bin

$ java -version

Error occurred during initialization of VM

Unable to load native library: Can't find dependent libraries

WE checked the Environment Variable and was able to echo $JAVA_HOME so what am i missing?

Re: Multicast Error messages

Does this node on QPPM-NA2 run? Can you log into it? Sounds like the Java installation may be corrupted and/or it can't find a .dll

Do you have the path of the Java install in a "path" system variable?

Reinstall the JDK?

Re: Multicast Error messages

Yes we have the Java path in an environment variable. I tried the commands again today and this is what i got:

mitg@QPPM-NA2 /cygdrive/d/itg/bin

$ echo $JAVA_HOME

C:\jdk1.6.0_16

mitg@QPPM-NA2 /cygdrive/d/itg/bin

$ java -version

bash: java: command not found

mitg@QPPM-NA2 /cygdrive/d/itg/bin

$ java -version

bash: java: command not found

mitg@QPPM-NA2 /cygdrive/d/itg/bin

$ java org.jgroups.Version

bash: java: command not found

mitg@QPPM-NA2 /cygdrive/d/itg/bin

Re: Multicast Error messages

Does $JAVA_HOME/bin/java -version work?

Re: Multicast Error messages

It would appear that Java is not in $PATH. You can use 'echo $PATH' to verify this. $JAVA_HOME needs to be added to $PATH in the profile file in order for bash to find the java executable.

Re: Multicast Error messages

Yes that worked:

mitg@QPPM-NA2 /cygdrive/d/itg/bin
$ $JAVA_HOME/bin/java -version
java version "1.6.0_16"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_16-b01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.2-b01, mixed mode, sharing)

Re: Multicast Error messages

Yes i did have to fix that also:

Environment system variable

PATH

E:\Legato\nsr\bin;C:\Program Files\CA\SC\CAWIN\;C:\cygwin\bin;D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_2\bin;D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\bin;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\BIN;D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\LIB;C:\Program Files\IBM\GSK7\bin;C:\Program Files\IBM\GSK7\lib;C:\IBM\ITM\bin;C:\IBM\ITM\bin\dll;C:\IBM\ITM\InstallITM;C:\IBM\ITM\TMAITM6;C:\j2sdk1.4.2_12;C:\jdk1.5.0_11\bin;c:\jdk1.6.0_16\bin;C:\PROGRA~1\CA\SC\CAM\bin;%CSAM_SOCKADAPTER%bin;C:\Program Files\CA\DSM\bin;C:\Program Files\CA\SC\CBB\

Re: Multicast Error messages

Maybe try getting rid of C:\jdk1.5.0_11\bin from your $PATH...having multiple versions may be confusing...?

Re: Multicast Error messages

The other server that contains the PPM instance that this one is clusetered with has the same Environment setup and it works over there with no problem.........

Re: Multicast Error messages

The system will search entries in the PATH variable in the order they appear. Java should only appear in the PATH variable once. The easiest way to do this is to add the value set into JAVA_HOME into the PATH variable after it is set. The command to do this in the profile will be something like the following (exact syntax depends on what shell you are using):

PATH=$JAVA_HOME:$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH

With this setup, a change to JAVA_HOME is automatically copied into the PATH variable and only one version will be used.

Re: Multicast Error messages

I was talking to one of the systen engineers and he believes that Java need to be reinstalled, so were going to try that route to see if it works........ill let you know.

//Add this to "OnDomLoad" event
