Locking tasks in workplan (in projects) for non-editing

I need to know how to lock workplan tasks within a project so that project managers and/or other users can add additional tasks but not change existing tasks within template??
Users/project managers are changing template task names and is causing an issue with reporting for segment of company.

Re: Locking tasks in workplan (in projects) for non-editing

Hello Rhonda,

The users may be having the Access Grant of,

Project Mgmt: Edit Work Plan Templates

Remove this Access Grant from all the security groups that is having it and then no user will be able to modify the workplan templates.

Also, if you want users not to remove the tasks in the workplan that are needed as per the workplan template then in the workplan template mark all such tasks as required, so no user will be able to remove it from their individual workplans also.

So basically two things to do to resolve this issue,

1. Remove the above mentioned access grant from all the necessary security groups (except admin security groups).

and

2. Mark all the needed tasks for reporting purposes in the workplan templates as required.

Thank you....the second option works for me.
I need users to be able to add new tasks...just not modify names of tasks from original work plan.

Sorry...I didn't assign points the first time. I've assigned 10 now.

Thanks again!
