KNTA-10026 - Package being Updated by another DB Session

We seem to always get the "Package 212390 is being updated by another database session. (KNTA-10026)" message. How can we find and kill the session that has this locked. HP has told me the only way is to restart the entire PPM application. This is not a feasible solution as uptime is critical. Please advise is anyone has a solution.

Re: KNTA-10026 - Package being Updated by another DB Session

Hi Greg,

When the issue occurs, run this query to identify any blocked session....

SELECT count(*), SID
, username
, event
, blocking_session
, seconds_in_wait
, wait_time
, q.sql_id
, s.sql_id
, s.prev_sql_id
, sql_text
FROM v$session s
, v$sql q
WHERE s.state IN ('WAITING')
AND s.wait_class != 'Idle'
AND ( q.sql_id = s.sql_id
OR q.sql_id = s.prev_sql_id)
group by SID, username, event, blocking_session, seconds_in_wait, wait_time, q.sql_id, s.sql_id, s.prev_sql_id, sql_text
order by SID;

If you identify a related query, ask DBA to kill that specific session.

You may want to test a couple of times and see if there is any corruption impact....

Killing session from the database is not the safest thing to do, but could be the only way to go instead of re-start the application.

I recall a few companies doing this practice...

Re: KNTA-10026 - Package being Updated by another DB Session

Hi Greg,

There is no need to restart the entire PPM application. We also face this issue frequently..There is a simple solution for this problem.

Oracle creates a default account with user "PORTAL30" and the default password is "PORTAL31"..

Just logon to the database with PORTAL30 username and then go to Session Browser...

Then go to "Session" tab..there is "JDBC THIN CLIENT" section.. Under that just click on each row and then you will get to see on the RIGHT side if the package is locked...

to Unlock the pakage..right click on the row seleced and Disconnet the session...

Thanks!!
