Japanese characters in Report status notifications

Hi,

 

Currently, we are in HP PPM 9.12.

 

Recently, we enabled Japanese Language Support in PPM.  After that, we see Japanese chatacters are displayed in the Report Status Notification, like "XXXXXXXXX Report 実行中 on July 23, 2012".

 

When we checked the users or the person who scheduled this report are NOT using Japanese regional settings.

 

Can you please help us in resolving this?

Hi Anand,

 

When deploying other languages in PPM you should not see any problem when creating reports or any other entities.

 

Could you please provide the exact name for this report? In PPM we don't have any report with the name "Report status Notification". Do you know if it is a custom report??

 

Could you please clarify how and when you are seeing the problem?

 

Is it the user creating a brand new report or copying an existing one?

 

Please attach a screenshot if you have one.

Hello Anand,

 

The key here is “one person had this problem”.

 

We need to make sure that indeed only this user was affected, and this helps to decide if you want to troubleshoot just around this user or in general

 

So please run the following query to verify the language settings for this user in specific:

 

select region_code, language_code, region_format_code, language_format_code from knta_user_regional_settings where user_id in (select user_id from knta_users where username='user');

 

If you see wrong values, you can compare with other similar users and if needed, update the values to reflect the correct language.

Hi Jonathan,

 

In any of the PPM reports, we can configure notifications for "Completes" or "Failed".  So, whenever the scheduled report is getting executed, based on the configuration it will send out the notification.  That email's notifications subject is having the report status like Running, Completed and Failed.  These, statuses are shown in Japanese.

In that case, please ask user to check his computer (control panel) and PPM (administration/profile) regional settings configurations.

 

As Oscar mentioned in his post above you need to verify if the problem is happening with any user or just with one, and the if this is happening with all the reports where this user is setting the notification.

 

Cleaning PPM (kRunCacheManager) and browser cache, and recompiling the JSP files (kJSPCompile.sh, delete work and temp folder en every node, restart the server) can help on this kind of issues.

 

If problem persists after those steps, it will be better to contact support to torubleshoot this better.
