Issue with "Admin" account

Hi,

We rebuilt our QA instance using the production app file system and database.

After this, we decided to change the password for "Admin" user.

So, I used kEncrypt.sh fron ITG/bin and encrypted a password. Then I updated knta_users table for username = 'admin'

and set password = 'above encrypted value'. Committed the transaction.

After this I am getting invalid username/password error.

I tried this multiple time, but no luck.

Is there any way to retrieve admin account or is there a way to set a new password for admin?

Please note, none of the other users in the system have the 'Open Workbench' access or "User Administration" access.

Thanks,

Kiran

Thanks,

Re: Issue with "Admin" account

Hi,

you have to remove the #!# delimiter from the beginning and the end of the encrypted text :)

Re: Issue with "Admin" account

Hi, Adrian,

you forgot to mention the call to the "set define off" statement - this is useful since the encrypted text might contain the & character.

Re: Issue with "Admin" account

Hi,

The best way to do this.

  1. Take backup of security folder in PPM_ROOT and Stop the PPM server (if running)
  2. Then copy the security folder from Source to destination environment ( make sure it includes private_key and public_key) files
  3. Next is to copy the encrypted password from Source env and paste it in Destiantion Admin row in KNTA_USERS table
  4. Once this is done, then go to BIN directory and run "kKeyGen.sh"
  5. After this Start the PPM server, now your  admin password will be same as SOURCE env admin account.
Cheers..

Re: Issue with "Admin" account

Hi, Utkarsh,

In my opinion it is not a good practice to have the same password for PROD and non-PROD environments.
