Invalid username/password error at authentication page

Hi,

We have PPM 8 SP2 and we have siteminder authentication. We have "authentication required" set up for some of the workflow steps. When we have at authentication required page, after giving username and password, it is giving invalid user name/password.
But We have loged in successfully to dashboard using same username/password.

Can anyone tell me what could be the problem.

Thanks
Shravan

Re: Invalid username/password error at authentication page

Are you running a single instance of PPM or a server cluster?

Re: Invalid username/password error at authentication page

Hi Jim Esler,

We are running PPM 8 in cluster environment.
(2 nodes).

Re: Invalid username/password error at authentication page

A cluster environment must use "sticky connections" in the hardware or software load balancer. Once a user is logged in, the user is known only to the one instance that received the login credentials. Your symptoms are consistent with the user being logged in and then being routed to the wrong server.

Re: Invalid username/password error at authentication page

Hi Jim Esler,

Thanks for your response.

If the user connects to dashboard , until he closes the window, he will be there in only one server
right?.

We have cluster configure configuration in another instance also ( which is in 7.1),
but we didn't see any issue at authentication required page.

After we raised the case with HP, they informed u to copy some lib files from web agent to siteminder folder.

But even after copying these lib files, we are getting different error "Cannot connect to siteminder's policy server".

Can anyone faced same issue. And can anyone tell me how to check whether the
policy server is up and running fine.

Thanks
Shravan.
