This ought to be simple. Normally, to make a field 'required' we goto Status Dependencies and select the "Required Yes/No" radio button for each necessary request status on the left.
Well, in my PFM - Asset request type, Region is required in the user interface, as indicated by a red asterisk. But when I go into the Workbench, in the request type, under Status Dependencies, it is NOT required.
I must be missing something. Why is it required, and how would I "un-require" it, if needed?
Thanks for asking. PFM - Asset comes standard, and we have not modified it. I did look at the rules for the request type, and nothing was obviously setting the required flag. There are only four rules:
Set Workflow, Calculate Value, Clac. Risk, Calc. Total Score.
Re: How is Region set to "Required"? Official Answer
Here's the official HP answer:
"After involving my team, the conclusion is that it comes that way by design. The reason would be the working day in the calendar. "Please test the following, "-make a copy of that Request Type (definitely not recommended to change any seeded objects) and then the "required" fields are set in the Status Dependency tab of the Request Type so would just set it to "no" where if it is set to "yes" on that tab for that field."
I'm pretty good about digging down into these request types, but if it's down in the xml or somewhere lower than Status Dependencies, I will accept that it is just that way.
I'm not happy with HP's answer, because it sounds like they are 'winging it' too.
I've got to focus on other stuff, so I am prepared to accept this answer and move on.
