How frequently one should restart PPM server to maintain the uptime?

Hello friends,

We have a pretty stable PPM system. I would like to know the recommended frequency for restarting the server.

Thank you.

Hi,

If I didn't misunderstood what you want, as a application server, you don't need to reset PPM server. Operating System can manage memory better and Java garbage collector kills unused objects. So all those systems designed for alive with out restart.

Ok?

Thank you for your response!

Yes. I am talking in context with Application server maintenance.

So, you are saying we need not restart the PPM server at all ?

Of course, with exceptions like some server configuration changes which requires server restart.

No need to Restart PPM server for maintanance.

For fine tuning or better performoance of PPM checkout sysadmin manual tuning section.

You may have to run DB statistics or other utilities to fine tune your application.

Production PPM applications Run for 6 months or so without any restart and no performance issues.
