Host PPM Oracle DB and same physical box where ALM DB is hosted.

Hi,

We want to use the physical server where we already have HP ALM database hosted, to host HP PPM DB. We will be create a new instance of Orace DB for PPM tool. Does anyone have inputs and cons for taking this approach?

Thank you very much.

It is very common to host more than one database instance in the same (physical) server. You have to ensure that the server has enough capacity and throughput for the additional load of the second database.

By capacity I mean all areas in the environment such as CPU, memory, disk space, kernel structures etc. And of course throughput implies fast disk access, memory and CPU processing.

Are your applications hosted on this server as well or do you have separate servers?
