Handling multi-select changed to single-select

Hi,

I have a field in a request type which is multi-select and also we have many requests already created and some have traversed half the workflow, now we have a requirement to change that field to single select. what is the impact due to this change on the requests which are already created and how to handle it.

Is that a field for User who can be listed in Step Security ?
In that case, I think you would only need to worry if any of your requests are already waiting in that Decision step as security would alreay have been calculated.

BTW, If you have related Decision step,
what is the 'decision required" value - one or all ?

If the field value is not used in Step Security, the only worry should how you are using the field value in your Rules.

Additionally,
one thing you will notice is: if those fields are editable at the time, the multiple field values that you had will probably clear out and ask you to put in a single value when you try to save or act on the request.
