Re: Export report to Word

Hi all,

Please let us know if anyone has exported pl/sql report(including tables) to word document.

We have a requirement to export request data to a word document. We have discussed with HP team and came to know that there is no option to do that. So decided to create a report from the request and export the data to word document. Please let us know whether this can be done using a pl/sql report? Also , let us know if tehre is any other option to do this.

Appreciate your response.

Thanks & Regards,

Divya

Re: Export report to Word

Depends on what you mean by "export" and what your report looks like. If it's a standard HTML report, you can just open it in PPM, save as [filename].doc and Word will open it...

Re: Export report to Word

Thanks for the reply Eric..

Our requiement is to export all the data from a request to a word document. As of now, our customer maintains a document manually and they need it to be automated in PPM. Many fields in this document are coming from Project and the remaining fields (include table component) are entered manually by user.

So the solution we thought was to create a request type which pulls the data from PPM Project and it has many editable fields for the user to enter. However, we are not sure how to get all the data from the request (many text fields, table compoenents, text area) in a word document.

We are thinking to create a report from which we can export all the data to Word doc. So, we would like to know how to go about it?? As we ahve not worked with jsp reports, wanted to know whether it can be done using pl/sql..

If you had worked in jsp reports, can you pls share any material which can help us to create jsp?

If you could know of any other way to achieve the requirement also, Please suggest us.

Appreciate your response on the same.

Thanks & Regards,

Divya

Re: Export report to Word

If you have a request, in the upper left corner there is a link for 'Printable Version'...you can right-click > save as > [whatever.doc] and it will save as a Word doc, although it won't be perfect it is the easiest option.

You can do the same thing with a plsql report...the fancier you need the output to be, the more complicated it would be but simplest is to just set markup html on and output to an html file that you save as .doc

Other option is to use the Business Objects reporting to pull the data.

Re: Export report to Word

Thanks for the respoense Eric.

We had proposed the option to export the request to an .xps format using the Printable Version. However clilent is not satisfied with the output and so wanted a properly formated output in Word document.

So, we have decided to go for a report. Can you please share any sample report code(JSP or PL/SQL) with Export to word option. It would be really helpful for us.

Also, can you please explain on the 'set mark up html on' option which you had mentioned. I do not have any idea on this. How and where we should set it on?

Thansk & Regards,

Divya
