Error while creating PPM entitie Post upgrade

Hello Everyone,

We have recently upgraded our system from HP PPM 7.5 to HP PPM 9 SP 2. After the upgrade, while creating any Project or Program, the system throws the below error and doesn't get created:

"

An Error has Occurred

 An unknown exception has occurred. Please reload the page you were editing and try again.

 The following is a stack trace of the exception:

com.kintana.core.server.RuntimeBaseException:

An unknown error has occurred. For more information, please contact your PPM administrator and provide the following GUID number:

GUID=76873784-2018-5039-244D-C79A6CFF501B

"

The log give the below detail about the error for this GUID:

"

a different object with the same identifier value was already associated with the session: [com.mercury.itg.core.settings.AttributeImpl#1718883]

"

Pleae help ASAP.

Thanks and Regards.

Re: Error while creating PPM entitie Post upgrade

Hi Laura,

I found some hits for environments with similar issues after upgrade.

You can check the following to progress:

select * from ITG_SETTINGS_ATTRIBUTES where SETTINGS_ATTRIBUTE_ID = 1718883

will show the what is affected.

Next we would check the following two:

SELECT MAX (SETTINGS_ATTRIBUTE_ID) FROM ITG_SETTINGS_ATTRIBUTES;

select ITG_SETTINGS_ATTRIBUTES_S.nextval from dual;

If the results are not equal, then this mean that PPM is not incrementing the ITG_SETTINGS_ATTRIBUTES_S sequence correctly.

Incrementing the sequence value in the database while the server is down, removing content of tmp- and work-directory (cache) solves the issue but I’m not sure if it’s that easy to do right here and now.

My strong advice is that you

a)      open a support ticket,

b)      describe the error that you are receiving after upgrade (full stack, even better full kSupport)

c)       give results to above queries,

d)      ask for help on incrementing sequence SIMILAR to QCIM1L39394 (internal CPE-incident).

All my above hints come from that incident BUT beware:

-          the incident showed problems opening a FinSum;

-          The Sequence-ID of the attribute was different

You’ll need to find out what’s behind 1718883 to get the best possible assistance.

Good luck on the solution.

Best regards,

Dirk

Hi, Did you ever resolve this issue?  We are getting the same error after upgrading from 8 to 9.22.

Re: Error while creating PPM entitie Post upgrade

Hi Mark,

Did you try to follow the troubleshooting steps provided by Dirk in the previous post? What's the result?

Most of the errors about "a different object with the same identifier value was already associated with the session" often have an incorrect database sequence as a root cause, with the next value provided by the sequence being already assigned to an existing object ID in the DB.

Could you provide the exact error message you're seeing in your server logs?

Thanks,

Etienne.
