Re: Error Installing Best Practices

Hi,

There may be two possible issues based on this error log,

1. In the line 'ntegration\mercury\bestpractices\DEM/Content/Workflows/' there are two types of slash character both forward and backward, check in the server.conf file that you have all the slashes as backslash character.

2. Are you logged-on on the laptop as the PPM operating system user? or as some another user? If you are logged-on as some another user then Access Denied error may come up.

3. Otherwise due to first error the second error has occured as it is also saying FileNotFoundException.

You can check on the first two points above to make sure they are fine. If they are then probably another issue can be found out.

Re: Error Installing Best Practices

I reinstalled HP PPMC, I still get the same error, except this time, the first zip-file got installed. I'm not logged onto HP PPMC, the service is just started. I checked my server.config file, I did not see that string of text \mercury\bestpractices\DEM/Content/Workflows/.

It's failing on the second zip file DEM_20086.zip.

Any help?

Re: Error Installing Best Practices

Did you check access in your filesystem for this file? You might not have write access to the logs folder in the file system.

Re: Error Installing Best Practices

Hi Rikki,

Could you please inform me regarding the solution for this access issue. Currently I've got the same error message during a deployment.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Error Installing Best Practices

Hi, I am currently experiencing the exact same problem while trying to install best practices for PPM 7.5. I would appreciate it very much if you could let me know how this problem was resolved (if it was resolved...). Thanks.

Re: Error Installing Best Practices

Start the service using via the command prompt. Start the stop the server/service via the command prompt then restart the service/server. Also run the best practice via the command prompt.

Re: Error Installing Best Practices

I can't believe this resolved the issue!

In cygwin I used kStop.sh and kStart.sh to restart the server, then ran kDeploy.sh and it actually worked!

I am so curious now - how is restarting the service in cygwin different from restarting the service in Windows Control Panel, and what was the exact cause of the problem?

Anyway, thank you so much for resolving this issue.

Re: Error Installing Best Practices

Hi,

as mentioned above.
Check the Windows Access Rights of the whole PPM directory and the subdirectory.
Give your user owner and full access permission of all files and directories and it will work on windows.

I guess cygwin use unix permissions and this can be a reason why it works with cygwin.

Volker
