Customizing Product Information section

Hi,

We would like to add two links in the Product Information section in addition to the two default links (Library & About HP Project & Portfolio Management Center).

In 7.5 we added these links by adding two menu items in core_menu.xml file.

Example:

Users Forms
javascript:openWindoid('http://test.net/aaaa/test/abcd.aspx?InstanceID=0',800,500)

But this is not working in 8.0. I am not sure if we have change any other file in 8.0 to achieve this

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Customizing Product Information section

Hi, in release 8 it is all in a single menu.xml, but this can be modified as needed two. The syntax is different though (no copy&paste).

can you please send me an example/syntax if you have one.

Re: Customizing Product Information section

Sure, I hope the forum here preserves the formatting...

javascript:openWindoid('/itg/pdf/Custom.htm', 800, 500)

Re: Customizing Product Information section

Hi Sacha,

I added another link in menu.xml file and creating a resource for that link.

When I try to access that link from product information, I am getting error

"you are not having access to this resource"

DO I need to create any security groups for this resource?

Any help in this regards is greatly appreciated.

Re: Customizing Product Information section

No, the security groups in the menu item sections in menu.xml control visibility of these menu items to the current user.
I'd say the no access error message comes from the destination of your link. What page is it? Is it an error generated by PPM or a more generic HTML error (403)?

Re: Customizing Product Information section

Hi Sacha,

It is a html page that exist in our network share drive.

From the error message I assume this is from PPM.

Attached the screenshot.

Re: Customizing Product Information section

Looks strange, try putting the HTML into the [PPM_HOME]/pdf/ directory and then use an URL like this in menu.xml:

javascript:openWindoid('/itg/pdf/Custom.htm', 800, 500)

It should have something to do with the location of your custom HTML.

Re: Customizing Product Information section

Hi Sacha,

I am able to access the link if that html document exists on application server (itg/pdf/..)

This document is dynamic one; we change the content in the document often. We are trying to have this document on different location where we can change easily than updating the document in the prod application server.

Do you have any suggestions?
