Copying one field to another with an advanced rule

Hi all,

I'm new to HP PPM and I'm alone to work on it, with no help on site, so it's a bit hard to go forward :-)

I would like to create a rule to copy a field value in another when a request is created.

The original field is CREATED_BY (prompt = Originator), the goal field is REQUESTER_NAME (prompt = Requester name).
I tried to create a rule like that :

  • Rule event = Apply on creation
  • Rule type = Advanced
  • Dependencies = Originator contains any value
  • Result fields = Requester name (REQ.P.REQUESTER_NAME / REQ.VP.REQUESTER_NAME)
  • SQL logic : select REQ.CREATED_BY, REQ.CREATED_BY_NAME from DUAL

But I'm not sure of the validity of the SQL statement.
And, obviously, it doesn't work.

Could you help me with such a simple rule, please ?

Thank you.

Try

Select '[REQ.CREATED_BY]', '[REQ.CREATED_BY_NAME]' from DUAL
