Connection protocol vs Transfer protocol

Hi,

Anyone know the difference between the Connection protocol vs Transfer protocol in the Workbench - Environnement?

I know that the Connection protocol is used when connecting to this host and the Transfer protocol is used when moving files.

But, are they complementary?

How does it works?

Connecting then Transfer?

What the Connection does precisely?

Thanks,

Re: Connection protocol vs Transfer protocol

You said it. Connect (open a remote session) with either MS Telnet or SSH, and transfer files by then issuing FTP or SCP commands.

Telnet & FTP are typically for Windows servers, SSH & SCP are for *nix but can also be used on Windows if configured properly.

Re: Connection protocol vs Transfer protocol

The Connection Protocol is used when you use the ksc_connect command and Transfer Protocol is used for ksc_copy commands. They don't have to match is security levels, meaning that you can use SSH2 (secure) for the Connection Protocol and FTP (not secure) for the Transfer Protocol.
