Changing the budget drop down validations for Type and Expense Type

Our users have requested that we modify the drop down validations on the budget line.

For the Type field they would like to replace the Labor/Non-Labor option with Network/IT. For the Expense Type drop down they would like to replace Capital/Operating with Capital/Expense.

Has anyone done something similar to this? Please see the attachment.

Re: Changing the budget drop down validations for Type and Expense Type

Hi Jaylen,

You will need to modify the knta_lookups table for that. Here are the details for the changes that you will need to do,

Validation Name: CST - Budget Expense Type
SQL: CST - Budget Expense Type
SELECT lookup_code, meaning, default_flag FROM knta_lookups WHERE lookup_type = 'BUDGET_EXPENSE_TYPE' AND enabled_flag = 'Y' ORDER BY seq
This validation has the values of Capital/Expense. So you will need to modify the database directly in the knta_lookups table having lookup_type column as BUDGET_EXPENSE_TYPE and change the Capital and Expense values there. You won't be able to modify the validation itself.

Validation Name: CST - Budget Line Type
SQL: SELECT lookup_code, meaning FROM knta_lookups WHERE lookup_type = 'BUDGET_TYPE' and enabled_flag = 'Y' order by seq
This validation has the values of Labor/Non-labor. So you will need to modify the database directly in the knta_lookups table having lookup_type column as BUDGET_TYPE and change the Labor and Non-labor values there. You won't be able to modify the validation itself.

If you have any integration of budgets with projects, programs, staffing profile, etc., then they may also get affected. Also, this change won't be supported by HP support as this is a customization to the out-of-the-box entities, that will also need to be re-done everytime you upgrade the PPM with patch or version.

Thanks Darshan. I will ask our SME's to investigate this option.
