Is there a way to change what is linked to a menu item? For example, we have created a new request/workflow for a customized proposal and would like it to be found when selecting Create a Proposal (Under Portfolio Management)instead of the seeded one.
Yes, you can modify the menu item to point to a custom proposal request. These are the steps to do that:
1. In the ITG_HOME\conf\menus folder, open the 'portfolio_management.xml' file.
2. Modify the section in that file, that has the line "Create Proposal"
3. Change the tag in the above section to your custom request type name like below,
/itg/web/knta/crt/RequestCreateDispatcher.jsp?REQUEST_TYPE_NAME=YOUR REQUEST TYPE NAME HERE
4. So after modifying that section it will look like this, Create Proposal" /itg/web/knta/crt/RequestCreateDispatcher.jsp?REQUEST_TYPE_NAME=YOUR REQUEST TYPE NAME HERE
That's it. Then you can clear the cache of the server by running the kRunCacheManager.sh to reflect this change in the server. You won't need to restart the server for this change. When you refresh the html screen, if it does not point to your custom proposal request type or gives any error then logout and login again and it should work.
Also, take a backup of the 'portfolio_management.xml' file and place it some place else or rename it with different file extension as 'portfolio_management.xml.original' or so. Since if you have the extension of original file as .xml only, then PPM will read this file also and create two similar menu items in PPM browser interface.
