CYGWIN and Unix emulation

Hi,

Is there anyone who uses SUA (Service for unix ex SFU) in MS 2008 instead of Cygwin?
I do not understand why only the cygwin is supported as a unix emulation .
Anyway is there anyone who could tell me what is exact reason to use unix emulation ? Only to start PPM shell scripts ? Or the PPM uses the unix emulation during normal operation ...

And one more thing. Why do we need install SUA next to Cygwin to a windows server ?

Thanks a lot !

Re: CYGWIN and Unix emulation

Hi.
PPM on Windows needs a bourne shell, which is not included in SFU afaik.

Re: CYGWIN and Unix emulation

Thanks a lot. So in cat case why do we need the MS SFU (SUA) to be installed next to the cygwin ?

Re: CYGWIN and Unix emulation

Usually the default MS Telnet service together with cygwin is enough, we don't have SFU set up on our systems.

Re: CYGWIN and Unix emulation

We do not use SFU. We configure CYGWIN on the Windows server to use SSH and Secure Copy. HP Support staff should be able to provide documentation on configuring CYGWIN to be used with PPM.
