Re: An error during installation of PPM 8

I just received the exact same error while installing 8.0 on an AIX 5.3 server with a remote Oracle 10.2 DB. Have you been able to get around this error yet?

It's interesting to note that when I started the install, the installer had trouble finding the JDK even though the JAVA_HOME variable was set correctly. I had to add the JAVA_HOME to the PATH variable in order for it to find it. I did not have to do this when I did a different 8.0 install on SuSE Linux, and that install had no errors at all.

Re: An error during installation of PPM 8

Can you add specific details about your operating environment? It sure seems to be a *nix flavor and can you provide more details.

Hope that it helps.

Re: An error during installation of PPM 8

This seems to be caused by the version of the JDK you are using. Support recommended to us to use this version:

java version "1.6.0"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build pap6460sr2-20080818_01(SR2))
IBM J9 VM (build 2.4, J2RE 1.6.0 IBM J9 2.4 AIX ppc64-64 jvmap6460-20080816_22093 (JIT enabled, AOT enabled)
J9VM - 20080816_022093_BHdSMr
JIT - r9_20080721_1330ifx2
GC - 20080724_AA)
JCL - 20080808_02

After switching to this version of the JDK we were able to install successfully.

Re: An error during installation of PPM 8

Hello Matt,

Thanks very much, with this JDK verion I was able to finish installation.
BUT, once trying to login the following message appears:
Invalid username/password.

I'm using the default username/password but something is wrong.

In the console I see many errors with "Bad Cipher Text".

Do you have any idea?

Thanks,
Yuval

Re: An error during installation of PPM 8

While I don't remember getting any cipher errors, we did get a lot of arg list too long errors. To resolve that, we followed this recommendation from Sun: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-3530/gfxyz?a=view

Executing this command as root:
chdev -l sys0 -a ncargs=16

Hope this helps.
