Alias names in Environment

We are using alias name for Unix servers in our Environments. These alias names are not working when there is a change in physical server address. Connectivity is failing to the server. What needs to be done to make these alias names works even if under lying physical server changes.

Re: Alias names in Environment

The solution we received from HP Support was to set a value for the network cache timeout in the java security file. On our system, the file is at /etc/java14/jre/lib/security/java.security. The directive is: networkaddress.cache.ttl=

Re: Alias names in Environment

What error do you get when running an environment check?

If you are changing the alias name to point to a different server, not just a server with a different address, you may need to clear the entry for the server in the $HOME/.ssh/known_hosts file. This is where ssh remembers the server key that has been used when connecting to the server in the past. Each server should have a unique key and this check protects against servers masquerading as another server.
