Add three new items in the main menu bar - Feasible or not (PPM 9.14)

Hello,

I have a requirement to update the main Menu bar ((not on the sub menus drop downs)  on every PMC page to display few links. We are unable to achieve it inspite of following the CustomStdInterface doc. So raised HP request Case#4644278934 with Soji.

Can anyone tell us if "this is feasible" or "Confirm if similar setup could work" and what should be done to achieve it?

Thanks,

Sarita Mishra

Hi Sarita,

You need to modify the core menu.xml file to add new links in the Menu bar..

core menu is at: Path: /PPM_HOME/conf/menus/core_menu.xml

Thanks!

Re: Add three new items in the main menu bar - Feasible or not (PPM 9.14)

Hello Mohit,

Thanks for your response.

Can you also help me in few things as I could not get much info about core_menu.xml:

1. As per the CustomStdInterface doc menu related changes should be done in menu.xml file, and this is the file which contains details of all the menu options. How ever on checking the core_menu.xml, I found very very few menu items and

only one option is available of the main menu bar i.e. "Dashboard". So will this core_menu.xml help?

2. In the core_menu.xml each block starts with "menu seq". What does this means?  And if I have to add one new item in the main menu bar what shall be its sequence?

Thanks again..

Re: Add three new items in the main menu bar - Feasible or not (PPM 9.14)

Hi Sarita,

What is your exact requirement?

You wanna add Items in the top Menu bar (Dashboard, Open,  Search, Create ..etc)?

OR

You need to add new items under any menu item (i.e. under Dashboard, under Open...etc)?

Thanks!

Mohit

Re: Add three new items in the main menu bar - Feasible or not (PPM 9.14)

Hi Sarita,

The 9.2 Guide states (menu functionality has not changed from 9.14):

"PPM Center version 9.1x does not support adding a top level menu. Your new customized menu items may fall under Open, Create, or Search menu."

For now, try adding an item under the "menu.create" section of the menu.xml file instead of trying to add an item to the Main Menu bar.

Can ask Soji to have an Enhancement Request logged for adding items to the Main Menu.

Hi Sarita,

I think it's not possible to add new items at the top row. However you can add any no of elements under Dashboard, Create, open..etc

Thanks!!

Just FYI ..

By customizing the jsp, Sarita and her team have done this on their own now.

No enhancement request is raised with HP for this at the moment.

Re: Add three new items in the main menu bar - Feasible or not (PPM 9.14)

Hello All,

Thanks for all your replies.

As Soji mentioned, I made changes to the Header.jsp file and was able to add the new items in the Menu Header(not the main menu bar).

Thanks again,
