October HP Software Online Expert Days in the Support Customer Forums
Upcoming HP Software Online Expert Days in the Support Customer Forums this October
The HP Online Expert Day is an event when HP product, R&D, support team members and other employees join our online forums to answer customers’ toughest technical questions on specific software products. Online Expert Days give customers a chance to talk directly with the HP Experts.
SiteScope: October 2nd – 3rd, 2013
Topic: SiteScope 11.22 New Features
The event will let Customers ask questions about the new features in the latest SiteScope release, for example, MultiView and Custom Monitors. Also, they will have the opportunity to discuss any other new features delivered in 11.2x versions. We are expecting Customers to ask how to implement new monitoring features or how to enable SiteScope to deliver a particular data using external sources. Customers should attend to discover the new features that can make their SiteScope servers more efficient for them and their organization.
By now, you must have already upgraded or at least played with the UFT 11.5 release. Got any questions about the new unified IDE, or about the cool features such as Insight? Come join the discussion to talk about all things 11.5! Our engineers are standing by to help you out!
Topic: Multi-instance Service Designs as Performance and Availability Boosters for OO
The discussion should revolve around methodologies and best practices for increasing the performance and availability of OO. These will range from simple multi-instance setups, more complex high-availability architectures and also disaster-recovery solutions. Professional Services will be contributing field experiences & best practices currently employed or suggested.
The purpose of the Expert Day is to disseminate knowledge in a more direct manner, provide a forum for new ideas for architectural designs using existing application features and analyse advantages and disadvantages actively. Also, discuss existing issues with such environments, ways to improve them, entertain challenges and possible fixes or mitigating factors.
1) What is the best number of Central servers in an OO cluster?
2) Is a better practice to have the clustering service separately installed to Central or on the same server?
3) What type of load balancer should be used and how many should be included in a cluster?
4) Should a clustered DB be used and why?
5) How can we set up a disaster-recovery installation with a seamless transitioning mechanism?
6) Which is the best way of patching an OO cluster?
Thinking about upgrading to 11.5? Already upgraded, but have questions about version 11.5? Whether it’s related to install/upgrade or new features such as Lab Management, our engineers have you covered. Come join the discussion with our product gurus to talk about all things 11.5!

Topic: SAM Implementation: SAM BP, SAM Software Coverage, SAM Counter Mechanism
Software Asset Management is used to quantify and measure financial compliance risks of IT infrastructure and automatically track compliance to prepare customers for software audits. There are four main drivers for Software Asset Management:
- more frequent vendor audits
- complexity of numerous licensing models and terms and conditions defined in contracts
- compliance in virtualized environments and
- high costs of software spend also due to over-compliance
No organization is immune to software vendor audits, in particular large organizations. Gartner reported that in 2011, 65% of organizations were audited, and this number is increasing. Top auditing vendors are mega-vendors: IBM, Oracle and Microsoft, followed by Vmware and SAP. You have to be prepared for an audit or risk non-compliance, fines and future audits. HP Asset Manager and HP Universal Discovery help track installations and calculate compliance on an ongoing basis, allowing you to be prepared for and pass software audits.
This session will answer your questions to effectively implement and maintain the HP Asset Manager SAM package in your environment.
