NNMi 9.10 'migration' from PostgreSQL to Oracle DB

Hi,

I was wandering if anyone here ever 'migrated' an NNMi install from PostgreSQL to an external Oracle DB?

So, fresh install but with either a full backup or with a full configexport/import AND (most important), did that work?

Best regards

Remco

Any particular reason you're going down this path ? The performance is actually worse under oracle.

Hi Andy,

Could you tell a little bit more about the worse performance of Oracle when used with NNMi? Regards,

Hi Remco,

A database migration is not possible. What you should do is use nnmconfigexport.ovpl to save your configuration. Install/create an Oracle database and reinstall NNMi. With nnmconfigimport.ovpl you can restore your configuration. Not all your configuration will be restored, ie. node assignment to Security Groups is lost and you might run into some import issues (order is of importance here). Regards,

We had a bake off in HP's labs in 2008 by the TSG AMS SW Pre-Sales (known as Enterprise Business group now).  Embeded won, Linux won, CISC won. Which DB, Hardware, OS won didnt make a difference as we have an ELA with Oracle and HP.

Have a nice day :)
