We are testing the moving of a laptop to pick up a new IP address allocated via DHCP.
We have discovered and inventoried the laptop in one location and everything is fine, we have now moved it to another subnet and it has been discovered but not inventoried. We have now two entries on the DDMi server for this laptop.
Is there a particular setting or action that needs to be performed to get DDMi to recognise the fact this laptop has now moved and has a new IP Address without showing duplicates in DDMi
DDMi Version 9.32 on Windows 2008 R2 Server
Target is a windows XP laptop

How many devices do you see the duplicate entries?
If you use DHCP in your network, please set the IP lease time to at least 7 days first. Enable SNMP management on the DHCP server so that DDMi can poll the DHCP server ARP cache for the current IP and MAC address pair information of the devices on your network, allowing DDMi to keep track of IP addresses as they are reassigned.
Did you go to Find tool and search one problematic device, trying to purge one old CI manually then updating model on the device? After that, do you get fresh inventoried information for the device? For detailed steps, you could go to DDMi web interface under Help-> Documentations-> Configurations and Customized Page 46- Purging Device.
