What’s New In HP Universal CMDB...

Version 10.0 of HP Universal CMDB (UCMDB) enables enterprises and service providers to manage their IT, enabling ease of management of resources and their security, and delivers high value to end users and integrated applications, as part of the CMS system. The latest improvements are listed below:

UCMDB Browser

The UCMDB browser that allows easy access to data to non admin users is now bundled within the UCMDB and HP UCMDB Configuration Manager (CM. Other than allowing powerful search for configuration items and services, to view their properties and related configuration items, the browser now contains many new widgets including: security widget (Integration with HP Enterprise Vault), automation widget (Integration with HP Operations Orchestration), bugs widgets (Integration with HP Quality Center), incidents and change requests widget (integration with HP Service Manager), monitoring widget (integration with HP Business Service Management), policies widget (integration with HP UCMDB Configuration Manager) and more, allowing comprehensive view of any service and configuration item (CIs). The browser also allows updating data on specific and configurable CIs and attributes.

Multi Tenancy

The UCMDB can now manage more than one tenant within a single UCMDB, allowing service providers, and large or distributed organizations to manage several tenants in one UCMDB. The new multi tenancy is flexible and powerful way to manage the data and the security for both shared and non-shared data.

User Permissions

It is easier and simpler to manage user permissions for different resources in the UCMDB, using the new security module. The new concept of ‘Resource Groups’ bundle resources such as TQLs, views, reports and correlation rules together enabling managing permissions for them as a single group. User permissions can now also be implied to folders and not just for specific resources, making it much easier to secure the UCMDB. UCMDB and Configuration Manager combine user management processes to enable you to define your users and roles one time and leverage them across the solution.

Improved Topology Visualization

See the big picture of complex topology views within the IT universe using the ability to collapse and extend groups of CIs. Grouping CIs by type or by layer enables you to see the different layers and types of the business service or application, and side by side allowing you to dive into the details of the service, by extending the collapsed groups.

New Search Engine

With the new & powerful search engine that is bundled in version 10.0, you can search and find configuration items using intuitive queries. The new search does not require data preparation and works on internal and federated data. The search support flexible natural language queries that can span from one configuration item to a complex topology of related configuration items giving you a simple way to search and understand the data within your UCMDB. The search results are presented in the UCMDB Browser, thus giving you a rich and comprehensive view for the results.

History Management Refactoring

The re-factored history system performance has improved dramatically, making it easier to keep and track history changes of configuration items for configurable durations. It is also easier to track any change to configuration item as all configuration item attributes are now kept in the history system, and not just select once. Even after a CI wad deleted from the UCMDB, you are able to see how it looked like when deleted, for audition and other purposes.

UCMDB – Asset Manager Integration

The new integration between UCMDB and Asset Manager (AM) allows for synching between the UCMDB and AM data. The integration is powerful, flexible and configurable, to allow adaptation and customizations to fit your business needs.
