I've just installed OmniBack II 4.1 onto my L2000 server (ok, I know there's a new name for it from HP, but I really have neither the time nor ambition to try and remember it!...when trying to open OmniBack, I get the message "You do not have any access to OmniBack II functionality. Contact your OmniBack II administrator for details." Being that I AM the administrator, I couldn't tell myself a thing about what the problem might be...port 5555 is shown in /etc/services, the deamon is running...all looks good. In looking through the administrator's manuals, I haven't been able to find anything about where individual user's are added and/or permissions are assigned! :-|
Try to test the Omniback port by telneting directly to it.
telnet omniback 5555
you should see something like this,
command>telnet omniback 5555 Trying... Connected to omniback.somedomain.com. Escape character is '^]'. HP OpenView OmniBack II A.04.00: INET, internal build 383, built on Sat Jul 7 1 0:48:27 2001 Connection closed by foreign host.
Firstly you *must* verify that ALL omniback daemons are in fact running. You will get this error message when the 'crs' daemon is not running. Below are the daemons that should be running. If they are not try stopping and restarting them using these scripts.
