We just upgraded from DP 8 to DP 8.1. Now to get into the GUI it is asking for a user name and password. Is this something we need to request from HP or is there a default out there?

if not working, name resolution might be the root cause. Check if cell server can be resolved properly, short, fqdn, reverse. After that try a repair installation or just generate a new certificate.
Just side q
if the certificate is corrupted or deleted etc...does the same command to be re-run again to recreate/regenerate or have to safekeep/backup the certificate and restore when such situation happens?
