Trim not opening PDF's- "Can not launch of view"-TEMP problem

Hi,

We are having a problme on one machine only, affecting any user including Administrator. I've reinstalled TRIM and Latest version of Adobe Reader X. Keep getting this message when trying to open PDF only, word files etc all work OK. Please Help! Screen attached.

What type of association do you have setup with .pdf files?

Check in Tools > Options > Viewer and is PDF listed as 'Associated Application'?

Also, do you get different behaviour if you right-click the record and select 'View' compared to 'Edit'?

PS: The forum code wont work here, just paste the link as-is or us the Insert/edit Link button. :)

Something else to look for...

Does your workstation have another ADOBE PDF product installed?  (PDF Writer)

If so is it a different version number to PDF reader?  This has caused issues for other sites in the past.

Use the TRIM Options to select the Browser view for PDF and see how you get on...

Re: Trim not opening PDF's- "Can not launch of view"-TEMP problem

I had this exact issue a few weeks ago

  • On the end users PC go into tools, options
  • Go to the Viewer tab
  • Select the pdf file type and click "remove"
  • in the bottom retype the file extension "pdf"and then click add

This worked for the end user here that was having the same problem.  The only thing I can think of is a change to the pdf viewer (eg new version etc) and TRIM is not mapping it correctly.  By removing and readding, you are refreshing that relationship???

Good luck I hope this works for you....otherwise your problem is more complicated :(

Cheers, Kate
