The future of Webdrawer....

I noticed long ago when looking at the requirements for Trim 7 that Webdrawer is NOT supported on 64-bit. I believe (been awhile since I installed) you can't run the installer even as it will tell you the platform is not supported. I was trying on 2008 R2. We plan on hosting a Trim 7 server for our customer however we plan on using Webdrawer. I'd like to install on Windows 2008 R2 (only 64-bit) So a few questions come up.

1. Why isn't Webdrawer supported on 64-bit?

2. Can you manually install Webdrawer (like the install guide shows) and will it work?

3. If number 2 is done I assume this means no support if there are ever any problems?

4. Is future development of Webdrawer planned?

5. What is the alternative to Webdrawer?

Re: The future of Webdrawer....

WebDrawer may be supported in a 64bit environment in a future release.

Edited: Sorry Terry, can't publish unreleased build/version information.

Re: The future of Webdrawer....

Mind if I ask where you found this information at? When is 7.1 coming out?

Also what prevents the current Webdrawer from working on 64-bit or is it just the fact that it wasn't tested and therefore HP did not want to say they support it?

Terry is a support staff member in the US.

We can't publish release dates for unreleased software unfortunately.

I have looked at all the CR's for this and it appears that the existing webdrawer installation simply did not install correctly or run in IIS correctly on 64bit OS's.

No more details on it are available though.

So it's 'not supported' on 64bit OS's because it doesn't work/install, not because it wasn't tested.

Now that 7.1 has been released is there an update to this item?

Check the TRIM 7.1 Specification and Limitations file, page 14 - see attached.

Re: The future of Webdrawer....

No mention in documentation that you need to have the "IIS6 Management Compatibility Role wtih Metabase Compatibility" feature installed. At least on R2 and I assume in 2008 as well. Looks like Webdrawer running in IIS6 mode. Can't install Webdrawer it looks like until I do that.

//Add this to "OnDomLoad" event
