Send to Print Merge - Some Record Numbers Appear in Date Format

Hi Folks,

When attempting Send to Print Merge (Tab Delimited) a list of Records, when I open in Excel, some of the Record Numbers appear in Date Format. Despite my attempts to reformat cells back to a Record Number, I am unable to. Example Attached

Any ideas why this is happening.

TRIM 6.24 (1240)

Thanks

Solution

Re: Send to Print Merge - Some Record Numbers Appear in Date Format

When you open it up into excel, in the wizard that opens for a text file, when you get to Step 3 of 3, select ALL columns, then click on TEXT (vs the default of GENERAL).  That will bring everything in as text and you shouldn't have a problem with the record number field then.

TIP:  This method will also ensure that any leading zero's are not dropped off.
