NetApp with TRIM

Hi Gurus,

Have you all ever integrate NetApp with TRIM? Will you share with me any experience if there is...

Thank you so much

Re: NetApp with TRIM

NetApp is just another SAN (Storage Area Network) that you can use for your Document Store or placing your SQLServer Data directories.  That is something your Storage guys need to present the sliced LUN (Storage) mounted or given you the mount location to use.

Most of Organisations have their Document Store placed on Shared Filesystem which is on SAN (EMC or NetApp). If you provide some more information of your challenge or requirement, others may be able to help as well.

Re: NetApp with TRIM

Hi Harry,

Thank you for quick reply.

If you say so, NetApp is just another SAN storage that available in the market, right?

Do you think it work best if one NetApp in both production and DR?

Re: NetApp with TRIM

Hi

If the data centre is same for the Primary and Secondary env (please do not get confused with Primary and Secondary Workgroups as they access the same Dataset and Data Store), then technically you can use the same NetApp. However its not ideal and still has a single point of failure from Storage point of view.

You can create two different env and replicate in real time (both the database and data store files). That will give you a real DR.

Cheers,
Harry
