uninstalling software that is not installed by CA

Hi all,
There may be some software which may not be installed by CAE.
Now i have to find out the software which is not installed by CAE and have to uninstall.
Is there any way to do that??

Re: uninstalling software that is not installed by CA

sounds very similar to this thread...
http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1404492&admit=109447627+1265190301471+28353475

But the basic principles are as follows...
1. Identify the software you want to remove. You could use a FILE audit on *.exe to do this but this will general a huge amount of records in the fileaudit table in the DB. But maybe you can restrict such an audit to just the program files folder. Also are some ootb audit scans for installed software that check a couple of reg key and the Win32_Product WMI class. These could be a good starting point.
2. Once you identified the software that you need to removed then how would you remove this manual outside of CA? Once you have the answer to this question then you can create a nice script to do the un-install and package this into CA as a service and deploy to your agents.

As i stated in the other thread. Stopping users from install unwanted apps is not a CA problem, but more of a process\procedure issue that needs to be tackled at a higher level.

Just to point out, the customizations Karl mentioned are not available in CAS. CAS can tell you what the users are using and have, but it is up to you to remove them from a users desktop. This can be done by packaging up a script if needed.
