Patch Reporting problem

Hi all,

We recently implemented Radia Patch Manager and it seems to work fine. But after a close look we discovered some issues. Radia Reporting displays that there are patches available and we are able to assign patches. Patches are installed correctly, but not all patches are visable in Radia Reporting.

Did anyone have the this problem before or does anyone know a workarround for this.

Thnx.

Greetz,

David

Re: Patch Reporting problem

Hi David,

Are you trying to patch MS-Office Apps?

Patch Management only supports following products!!

Microsoft Office products for patching: Access 2000 Access 2002 Access 2003 Excel 2000 Excel 2002 Excel 2003 FrontPage 2000 FrontPage 2002 FrontPage 2003 Office 2000 *(Limited Support) Office 2003 Office XP Outlook 2000 Outlook 2002 Outlook 2003 PowerPoint 2000 PowerPoint 2002 PowerPoint 2003 Project 2000 Project 2002 Project 2003 Publisher 2000 Publisher 2002 Publisher 2003

Any other patches will be skipped..

Hope this helps

Re: Patch Reporting problem

Thnx for your reaction Biju,

The office application aren't really the problem. The problem is more that when I look at the reporting. That the system tells me that I have 25 patches for windows XP and when I look at the device it self, reporting server tells me that it only has 20 patches available and that 6 patches are installed.
The samething goes for the servers. There I got 31 patches applicable, but when I look at the reporting of the server it only show 2 bulletins.

Re: Patch Reporting problem

Hi David,

for what I understood when you look into the client using Windows Update you find more patches than Radia tell you into the reporting.

If this is the case the issue is that radia check automatically only for "security" patches not for everything.

For example if you check the client with Windows Update and find that Windows Installer 3.1 is missing you will not found that in Radia because it is not into the "security" bulletins, and so others.

I hope to has been usefull!

Bye!

Re: Patch Reporting problem

Hi David,

I forgott ... of course you can download the others patches customizing inside the "custom" directory the specific XML files for each patch.

Thanks again!
