Re: How to update software package

There could be several ways.
What type of package is it? MSI?
How did you package it the first time?

Re: How to update software package

Hi Roy,
I use CM Administrator Publisher to create all of packages. I have to update an msi packages and packages where i select components.

Re: How to update software package

Are you using CCM or CM(Radia)?
For component select mode, create another package and add it to the Service, connect the previous package to the new on using a Requires connection.
For MSI, use an MST and the publisher.
Both the packager and publisher documentation have guidance on this.

Re: How to update software package

I'm using CCM.
Believe me there is nothing about updating packages in documentation. How can I connect the previous package to the new on using a Requires connection ?

Re: How to update software package

I beleive you.
I don't think you have that option with CCM.

Re: How to update software package

Hi Marcin,

With CCM, there are really several scenarios:
-If you are trying to replace files in an existing installation, you need to republish the entire setup.
-If you have a patch or installation to update, you can publish just the update to push the changes (if this is the case, you may want to consider creating a dynamic reporting group for those systems that have the version that needs to be upgraded).
-If you are just trying to update a couple files that you previously published (that are not associated with an installation), you can just publish and deploy the updated files.

I hope this helps.
