I have the latest HPCAS installed and configured. This is the Free Starter Version of HPCA: Version : 07.20.000 Build Date : 20080711014530

Seems all works execpt I cannot populate patches... I have a proxy server and user account deefined and can get to the FTP site directly from a Browser session on the server or from my desktop. No matter what, the patches do no download!!!

Errors look like "HTTP proxy error code 407 for FTP URL: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/..."

Help!

Re: HPCAS HTTP proxy error code 407 for FTP URL

did you define the proxy url/user/pw when defining the Patch acquisistion setting. See p151 of the 7.2 admin guide.

Re: HPCAS HTTP proxy error code 407 for FTP URL

Well the HTTP 407 error relates to proxy authentication issues.
Did you try just acquiring ONE MS bulletin without any softpaq's?

Can you post your CCM.ACQ file. You'll find it in the C:\Novadigm\PatchManager\etc folder - if you installed to the default location.

Re: HPCAS HTTP proxy error code 407 for FTP URL

Not sure how to get a MS Bulletin. I am just clicking on the Aquire Now link; I have two HP models in my inventory which are listed.

Here is the file...you can see my proxy server and domain account being used.

Thanks for your help...something is definitely wrong here.

Re: HPCAS HTTP proxy error code 407 for FTP URL

...and this is the same proxy you have in your web browswer (that works) - http://okrsproxy:8080

To test an MS patch acquire you need to launch the CAS console and go to...
Configuration/Patch Management/Setting

Disable the Softpaq's and enable the MS Bulletins.
Then enter one bulletin to test, e.g. MS09-001 and enter the Language, e.g. en

The run the acquire.

Re: HPCAS HTTP proxy error code 407 for FTP URL

Yes, this is the proxy server defined in my Browser as well...I can get to the site and download from the browser so it is correct.

I will try the MS download as described.

Re: HPCAS HTTP proxy error code 407 for FTP URL

On the Settings Tab there is no option to enable MS Patches...I am using the Free Starter Version. I can enable/disable the HP Softpaqs and that it.

Re: HPCAS HTTP proxy error code 407 for FTP URL

Sorry, I missed the Starter bit!
Yes, this is restricted to Softpaqs only.

Not sure what else to suggest at this moment as everything seems to point to a proxy issue, yet this is working via the browser!

As i understand you have email support available with the starter edition. Suggest you try this route now.

Re: HPCAS HTTP proxy error code 407 for FTP URL

Some more thoughts on this one!

What happens if you change your proxy id\pw in the CAS console settings.
Do you get a different HTTP failure code? Does this suggest that you are using the correct id\pw in the first instance? I'm sure you are but maybe something to check.

Also, what type of authentication does your actual proxy server use? As i recall we only support basic authentication method. Maybe you have a differnt method set on the proxy server. If so, is it possible to test with basic authentication?
