This week HPE announced an Adaptive Backup and Recovery Suite, an integrated portfolio that uses operational and file analytics to automate and streamline data protection. The suite delivers on our  vision to bring information insight into the end-to-end backup and recovery process by combining HPE Storage Optimizer, HPE Data Protector and HPE Backup Navigator with modern information optimization, analytics, and protection tools to efficiently safeguard enterprise data across disparate repositories and locations. Let’s look at the role each of these software products plays in the data protection cycle:

 Storage Optimizer combines file analytics and policy-based storage tiering to analyze data to better understand what it is, how often it is accessed and where it resides in the production storage tier. It identifies hot data that needs to be kept based on its business value, and ROT data that can be archived, and tiers it appropriately, reducing storage footprint and management complexity.  

Data Protector, our core protection engine, provides comprehensive, centrally-managed high-performance backup and recovery. With one of the industry’s broadest support matrixes, many leading integrations for mission critical applications and enterprise scalability, Data Protector allows users to consolidate and standardize back and recovery in order to reduce cost and complexity.

Backup Navigator provides an insight into the backup operation to make the process smarter and more efficient by trending and analyzing backup and recovery events, tracking backup success, error rates, health statistics and backup capacity metrics.
