Re: What are the Advantages and new capabilities in BSM 9.1 (BPM) regarding BAC 7.5?
it is almost impossible to answer your question with as few information as you as providing. first of all we would need to know your use case for bac in order to find out what could be of interest. bsm (and for that matter bac before) are very powerful and extensive products. uses cases can vary with each module in use. so there are uncountable differences and advantages between these version if you're not able to isolate your use case. hp has put a huge effort into the new releases. and with every patch new features and fixes are being added. the difference between bac 7.x and 8.x is already considerable. and bsm 9.x is again a totally different story. looking back at the 7.x environments customer were using, bsm 9.x has significantly changed the way the use the product and the benefit the organisations are getting from the platform. maybe you should consider getting external advise in order to prepare a presentation for your management. somebody with bsm 9.x experience could analyse your use case and point to the relevant changes.
anyway here is one major thing which I PERSONALLY believe is a very important change:
bsm 9 with the integration adapter (or BSM Connector how they call it by now) will enable you to have ONE SINGLE EVENTS AND SERVICE MANAGEMENT CONSOLE. So tell your managers that you can harmonize most or even all of your system and service monitoring requirements into on single dashboard. One centralized view across all domains (server, applications, network and so one) for your operations organisation. third party tools can be integrated and feed messages and topology information into the bsm platform in order to enrich the service model and contribute to the event stream. you will be able to lower your cost since you might be able to turn off product specific management tool and integrate the functionality into the bsm platform. this will lower operations cost for running proprietary management solutions, maintaining these products, training people.
